3 Tips to Eat Healthy When You’re CRAZY BUSY!
I am always getting this question asked…
How Can I Eat Healthy When I’m Sooooo Crazy Busy?
And I bet you’ve had this question too.:) Today, I want to share some tips with you for when you are really busy but still want to eat healthy – because you know it makes you feel GREAT to keep eating healthy, right?!
We don’t have to let “being busy” stop us from feeling great, right?!
Well I have 3 TIPS for you on what you can eat to stay healthy when you are busy!
#1 Sip on a Smoothie.
So fast, just pour some coconut water, rice milk or hemp milk into the blender, then throw in 1/2-1 cup of fruit like blueberries or frozen berries AND some green to power it up (spinach, cucumber, romaine lettuce just to name a few). Add some protein if you like ( 1-2 tablespoons of hemp or chia seed) and some healthy fats (1/4 avocado, coconut milk – and the proteins I mentioned before also have you covered on the healthy-fat front!). For extra flavor add some vanilla extract, or dash of cinnamon.
- See my post on have-a-smoothie-as-a-meal here… to help start your day in the best way or to have a meal when you’re on the go (like I do all the time).
#2 Chop Up Some Salad Meals.
Chop up a bunch of lettuce – romaine or red leaf – and add some
spinach. Pile on some other veggies – tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, radishes, sliced beets, bell peppers, onions…. whatever you like. Add some protein like pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, cooked organic chicken breast, kidney, black or lentil beans, sprouts, a hard boiled egg, or salmon or tuna.
Make a quick dressing with stone-ground mustard, olive oil, and a couple sprays of Bragg’s Amino Acids (or just a bit of sea salt if you don’t have Bragg’s or can’t find it). Toss it all together and eat.
TIP: Cook up a couple chicken breasts at the same time and chop the veggies and lettuce in bulk you can make a couple salads at a time, don’t add the dressing to them yet, and they usually last a couple days or more.
- Here are a couple of my favorite salads.
#3 Be Prepared With Healthy Take-Out Options.
This could be from a nearby restaurant or many grocery stores now have a pretty decent salad or healthy food bar. You could find a place like Snap Kitchen (in Austin Texas; Lincoln Park, Ill & other locations. They prepare healthy food to go. Pick up a couple dishes to tide yourself over the next few days.) Look for restaurants and places that have organic and locally sourced produce, organic chicken, and free-range grass-fed beef and bison. There are many options for pick up locally or delivery to your doorstep. Whole Foods, Better Health and others have some choices as do other specialty health food chains.
I know it’s not quite as cheap as buying and preparing it yourself but if you are a busy person, or have one-of-those-weeks coming up OR you just don’t enjoy cooking, it’s a much better value (and better for your waistline for sure) to just spend the few extra bucks money and not on junky fast food or pizza delivery.
It’s always the small habits that add up – don’t let yourself fall back into old habits that cause you to not feel so great! I’d love to hear from you, too – what do you like to eat when you are really busy?
