COOKING TIP: How to Make a More Flavorful Vinaigrette (or Flavored Vinegar)

I was making up some sliced cucumber with home-made vinaigrette last night and made the vinaigrette this way – definitely more flavor. When you usually make a simple vinaigrette (oil, vinegar, seasonings) you usually mix the o & v, seasonings all at once. This way could be letting the oil coat the seasonings and keep the flavors from being fully released.

Here’s how to make a MORE FLAVORFUL, delicious vinaigrette.

Steps for a more flavorful vinaigrette (or flavored vinegar).

  1. First add 3 Tbls white, rice or wine vinegar to a bowl.
  2. Then add whatever flavor seasonings you want to the vinegar. I like garlic, basil or Italian seasonings
  3. Whisk together.
  4. Add sea salt and cracked pepper, to taste.
  5. Whisk again to dissolve the salt and help pepper release it’s flavor too. Stop here if you are just making a flavored vinegar.
  6. Once it is well whisked, add the oil (2 Tbls EVOO), and mix so all flavors combine

Note: If using dried herbs, let it sit so flavors fuse. If use fresh, whisking in the vinegar will release the flavors.
