Make a More Flavorful Vinaigrette
COOKING TIP: How to Make a More Flavorful Vinaigrette (or Flavored Vinegar)
I was making up some sliced cucumber with home-made vinaigrette last night and made the vinaigrette this way – definitely more flavor. When you usually make a simple vinaigrette (oil, vinegar, seasonings) you usually mix the o & v, seasonings all at once. This way could be letting the oil coat the seasonings and keep the flavors from being fully released.
Here’s how to make a MORE FLAVORFUL, delicious vinaigrette.
Steps for a more flavorful vinaigrette (or flavored vinegar).
- First add 3 Tbls white, rice or wine vinegar to a bowl.
- Then add whatever flavor seasonings you want to the vinegar. I like garlic, basil or Italian seasonings
- Whisk together.
- Add sea salt and cracked pepper, to taste.
- Whisk again to dissolve the salt and help pepper release it’s flavor too. Stop here if you are just making a flavored vinegar.
- Once it is well whisked, add the oil (2 Tbls EVOO), and mix so all flavors combine
Note: If using dried herbs, let it sit so flavors fuse. If use fresh, whisking in the vinegar will release the flavors.
