5 Ways to Boost Your Mental Clarity

Our brain chemistry and the balance of neurotransmitters have a lot to do with our intelligence and our memory. Eating the right foods can supply the necessary nutrients that are precursors of these important neurotransmitters. And don’t overlook the mind-body connection when it comes to mental clarity – I have yet to meet someone who can think clearly while he or she is down with the flu!

To remove your brain fog and start thinking clearly, try these simple tips:

#1 Get enough Omega-3 fatty acid – cold-water fish, walnut, flaxseed and hemp seeds, or my recommended high quality, double distilled, mercury-free fish oil/omega-3 tablet (BiOmega) – it is essential for proper brain function (and good for cardiovascular health, shiney hair, pretty skin and strong nails too.

#2 Make sure to get some choline in the diet – this nutrient helps enhance memory, and can be found in egg yolk and lecithin supplement.

#3 Avoid artificial sweeteners, especially aspartame (e.g. Equal), which is an excitotoxin and affects the functioning of the brain.

#5 Beware of heavy metal exposure – mercury from some fish, and lead from old paint and pipes.
