Post-vacation bulge? Not this time!

This past week I was on holiday with my family and I actually lost 2lbs!  🙂

When I weighed myself last Friday morning after returning from 8 days on holiday with my family in the Branson, Mo. I was so happy!  Yes – I was happy looking at the scale when most would cringe or dare not step on it at all. I had actually lost 2lbs on vacation and that, as Martha Stewart’s always says, is a good thing!

Now 2lbs may not seem like a lot but being on vacation for 8 days, eating out  and having those fun adult cocktails daily usually has the opposite effect. The thing is  while I  was on vacation I was also intentional and mindful because I didn’t want happens to most happen to me…. a very bad experience with the scale due to post vacation weight gain.

It is pretty simple how I did it….

  1. I Drank Water. I made sure I had my daily morning BIG GLASS of water. Since we drove was able to bring 3 gallons of my fav PH 10 water with me. But even in Branson there were health food and other stores that you could easily buy some for your room. Drinking this water every morning hydrates my body and gets the lymphatic system going. I also made sure to hydrate throughout out the day but did not drink at  lost at meals.>>Read here on why drinking water is so important for weight management and health plus get tips and download your free water drinking chart.<<
  2. I Prepared. I made the room and packed my favorite meal replacement shake mix that I use every morning at home to make my smoothies. I continued my routine of making a big, delicious protein-rich and with added greens every morning for my breakfast. These give me the energy i want and need in the morning and takes care of the one meal a day that is the most important for me to start my day – breakfast. We usually stay in a place that has either a full kitchen or a kitchenette with a blender or I would bring my own Bullet Blender. I stopped and bought some fresh spinach and a small bag of frozen fruit to add so it was just like I was at home.
  3. I Shared. Now we did eat out every day for lunch and dinner (this is when being ‘mindful’ really counts). Instead of ordering an entire meal for myself, my daughter and I would pick something we like and would split the main course (we did order our own salads though).Restaurants always give us more than we need and we are tempted to ‘clean the plate’ like we were taught at a young age. Sharing gives you your own plate so you can clean it off but you are not overeating. But don’t worry, there was a meal or two I did order JUST FOR ME and I enjoyed it because I was mindful the other meals.

Enjoy your next vacation and bring along SOME TIPS from me so you can ‘be happy stepping on the scale’ the next time you return home.

Happy vacationing!
