How to Make Watermelon Finger Food

Watermelon is a staple in the hot, summer months. Kids love it! Mom love the refreshing sweetness of itt! And us health mavens love the awesome nutritional value in every delicious bite. It boasts some powerful health benefits, too. At 46 calories per cup, watermelon offers vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium (great for blood pressure) and even fiber.  In additiona, it has more lycopene than raw tomatoes and so chocked full of powerful antioxidents, I feel good just writing about it 🙂 .

Tip: Retain the most antioxidants in this delicious superfood, store your watermelon at room temperature before slicing.

If you are like me, you love to eat watermelon the ways it is supposed to be eaten, big slices at a time. Eating it that way is a bit messy though.  Here’s a way to cut up watermelon finger food and eat it without all that delicious juice or fruit falling to the ground or making a mess of your shirt.

How to Make Watermelon Finger Food

Step 1:  Wash off the outside of the melon to clean off all the dirt and germs. Use an organic veggie cleaner spray or wash with vinegar and water.

Step 2:  Cut watermelon into thirds. Mine above is a mini melon. You could cut into 1/2 and have longer watermelon fingers, but sometimes they fall apart.  I use the center and cut into pizza wedge shape – perfect for finger food too (or put in fruit salad or use for grilled watermelon.  You can also throw it into a blender iwth some ice and make a watermelon slush.

Step 3:  Slice watermelon ends in both directions, about 1″ cubes or whatever size you like.

Step 4:  Serve rind side up for easy-to-grab snack. Put out indivdual bowls or one big long one…. kids and adults will love it anyway you serve it.

Happy Summer!

I would also love to hear your favorite way to cut watermelon too. You can share it in the comments,
